The outercoat is harsh and straight, about two to three inches long; the
undercoat is short and soft. Coat color is blue and tan, solid red, or sandy.
Grooming & Exercise Needs
This dog needs to be brushed two to three times a week. Daily exercise should
include a romp in a secured area and a few brisk walks.
The spirited Australian terrier is descended from cairn, Skye, and Yorkshire
terriers, among others. It was used as a ratter in 19th-century Australia.
Breed-related health concerns: diabetes mellitus, undescended testicles,
yeast dermatitis (a skin infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast).
